  • Hey everyone, I know I haven’t done a blog in more than 2 weeks so a lot has happened. First off, I’ll introduce all of you to my team. I’ll list where each team member is from and describe them with three words or phrases and one of those phrases will be a fun fact.
Banks (alumni team leader): From South Carolina. Wise, goofy, used to be a BMW mechanic.                                 Doug: From Pennsylvania. Adventurous, energetic, his family used to be Amish.
Ben: From Pennsylvania. On fire for Christ, funny, Wawa’s biggest fan.
Domynik: From California. Caring, intelligent, he’s writing a book.
John: From a lot of places, because his Dad was in the military. Easygoing, enjoyable to be around, he’s had 11 concussions!
Nick: From West Virginia. Genuine, intelligent, he’s a Pastor’s kid.
    Malachi: From Kansas. Generous, kind,
he’s really good at swing dancing.             I have such a great group of teammates! I know we’re all going to grow so much in our faith and grow close together these next nine months. The top pic is if all the guys on my squad. Now for the things that have happened in the past 2 weeks. Week 2 we did this thing called the Man Hike. We split into teams and walked 11 laps around the .7 mile trail around training camp. Every lap someone had to be blindfolded and someone had to crabwalk. Also each one of the eight of us had to be carried for one entire lap and one lap we had to carry a huge 200 lb tractor tire, one lap a massive log, and one lap a 100 lb tire. My team was actually the only team to finish within the five hour time limit, and we did so with almost thirty minutes to spare too! My team was absolutely insane, there truly wasn’t a weak link, everyone played their part perfectly. At the end we were all exhausted and went to Zaxby’s for dinner. We did all of this while the girls took naps and watched Pride and Prejudice. Who decided that plan??!!?? Overall, even though it was grueling, it was a great team bonding experience and it pushed a lot of us to our physical limit as it was intended to. The other big thing that happened week two is I was chosen to be the treasurer for my team, so I learned how to do that. Another big thing was the revival night Friday night. I was literally on my face just in awe of how big and amazing God is as I meditated on who He is during the worship. The biggest thing week 3 was the Mount Yonah hike. Early in the week we packed up our gear and hiked 2 miles up to the top of Mount Yonah. The hike was super difficult for me as it was uphill the whole time and I was carrying my 30+ lb (it definitely felt like 50+ lbs) backpack. I think the biggest thing was that I’d never done a hike with a lot of weight on my back before. But it was so worth it! The view was absolutely incredible, especially during sunset! The above pics are from that view. We camped there overnight and then hiked down the following morning. Another big thing that week was our revival night. I love revival nights! Worshipping my Savior and God with other believers for 2+ hours is so amazing! I’ve never experienced the joy, love for God, thankfulness, and awe I’ve experienced here. At the end of worship everyone took communion. A little backstory, I hadn’t taken communion in a long time, because I had struggled with certain sins, mainly unforgiveness and so out of caution I felt I shouldn’t take it if I hadn’t repented of those things yet. Well, this whole month or so of training camp I’ve been fighting sin, and doing my best to repent and turn from my previous sinful ways so I was pretty sure I was finally in the right place to take communion, but I was going to take some time to pray and listen before I took it in case I was thinking the wrong thing. Almost immediately after I sat down to pray and listen I felt a hand on my shoulder, and it was my leader Banks. I’d talked with him about me not taking communion before and he’d said that he thought I had been making the right call to abstain. But this time he said he felt God was telling him to tell me that He saw my heart and that I was trying to repent and that I should take communion. What was crazy was the fact that as soon as I sat down to hear from God, Banks came up to me and said what he did. Just experiencing God answer me was incredible! I haven’t included a lot of what I’ve seen God do and say to me throughout training camp but I want to, and if I remember that’ll be my next blog post. On a completely unrelated note, I’m fully funded! Praise God!!! So if you’re the anonymous donor giving $25 a month, please for your sake either give the money directly to me for me to have for fun experiences throughout the trip or stop giving completely. Because since I’m fully funded now all money that keeps coming in goes to AIM and not me. Thank you again to all people that funded me and helped me get to 100%!! Love you all, peace out!
(P.S.) Please be praying for all of our continued spiritual growth and for all the teams to continue to grow to be a strong community.
